Pete Wentz: Delivering Son Saint Was a 'Magical Moment'

When his girlfriend Meagan Camper went into labor, Pete Wentz was all set to play the part of doting new dad. The doctor, however, had other plans.

During an interview with KIIS FM, the Fall Out Boy bassist shared that when it came time for Camper to deliver the couple’s 9 lb., 10 oz. baby boy, he did a last-minute — and very unexpected! — switch that left him running the show.

“Our doctor, she’s so sweet, and she was like, ‘You’re going to deliver this baby,'” Wentz, 35, recalls. “I was like, ‘What? I just want to say I might not be qualified to do this.’ ”

Once Wentz was all suited up in his scrubs, his nerves quickly turned into excitement over the reality of his new role. “I’m like, ‘Take a picture of me! This is the closest I’ll be to being a doctor,’ ” he says with a laugh.

But it was the moment his son, Saint Lazslo, was born that Wentz will never forget. “I pulled the baby out,” he shares. “It was the most magical moment and then I was like, ‘Don’t drop the baby.'”

He adds, “[Babies are] very slippery … it’s like shooting out a water slide after they come out. But it was magical really, and that sounds so crazy to say, but it was.”

As for the doctor, Wentz jokes that while he was busy delivering his son, she was “taking video of me pulling the baby out. I swear to God!”
