Peter Gallagher shares tear-jerking Pride Month message to daughter Kathryn: 'I want you to feel loved'

In honor of Pride Month, Peter Gallagher's daughter Kathryn Gallagher is sharing what her father told her when she came out.

Peter Gallagher, known for his fatherly roles on shows like "The O.C.," appeared in his daughter's TikTok, in which she told her followers an interesting part about being a "nepo baby."

"I have a lot of people that come up to me and they say, 'Your dad raised me,' which is cool because he also raised me, and I like to think he did a really good job," she said in a video posted on June 17.

"It being Pride Month and Father's Day being yesterday, it occurred to me that some people in our family, our LGBTQIA+ family, maybe you haven't heard it from a father yet, this Father's Day. So whether or not he raised you, my dad has something he'd like to say."

Kathryn Gallagher, an actor herself, then posted a clip of herself asking her father if he remembered what he said when she first came out to him.

The "Grace and Frankie" star first wished his daughter a happy Pride Month, before sharing what he told her.

"I think I said, 'I want you to feel loved. And I want you to have an ally in life,'" he said, pausing before sharing his next words. "'I want it to be somebody who brings out the best in you, and you bring out the best in them.'"

He concluded: "You're worth it. You deserve to be happy and feel loved."

Kathryn Gallagher thanked her dad, and he gave her a kiss on the forehead.

Peter Gallagher has appeared in his daughter's TikToks before, giving "The O.C." fans a taste of what it might be like to have Sandy Cohen as their own dad.

“One question that I always get is, ‘What’s it like having Sandy Cohen as a dad? And is he really like that in real life?’” Kathryn Gallagher said in a TikTok she posted in 2021. “He’s just my dad —”

He interrupts her to shout: “Hey, hey Kathryn, I schmeared it for ya!”

The elder Gallagher holds a bagel, a beloved food on the TV show that aired from 2003 to 2007. The Cohen family often dined on the breakfast staple, and the "password" to get into their home was showing up with a bag of bagels.
