Pilot News: Whoopi Goldberg Joins ABC Comedy, Will Juggle With The View

Whoopi Goldberg has lined up a second TV gig to compliment her day job.
The View co-host will star in ABC’s comedy pilot Delores & Jermaine, our sister site Deadline reports.
The multi-cam project — based on the real-life experiences of comedian Jermaine Fowler — follows a millennial (played by Fowler) with big ideas, but very little drive. He moves in with his estranged grandmother (Goldberg), a strict, football-loving, former D.C. cop who needs his youthful enthusiasm in her life as much as he needs her old-school parenting.
Production on the pilot — and the series, should it get picked up — will take place in New York City and will work around Goldberg’s View schedule.
Fowler and Danny Chun (Trophy Wife, Hello Ladies) penned the script, with Michael Rotenberg (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Avi Gilbert serving as executive producers.
