Pineville Autumn Fest set for Saturday
Oct. 19—With October's fall colors as a backdrop, Pineville's 17th annual Autumn Fest is set for Saturday, Oct. 21.
The event will include returning favorites such as live entertainment, children's tailgating, hay rides, chili tasting contest, jump houses for youngsters, cake walks, candy corn counting, costume and pumpkin decorating contests, among other activities.
Beginning at 1 p.m., Main Street will be closed so that booths may be set up. The street will be closed until midnight.
From 4 until 5 p.m., registration for the costume contest will be conducted on the courthouse steps.
At 4:30 p.m., booth judging will begin.
From 4:30 until 6:30 p.m., register for pumpkins on the Family Healthcare parking lot, located between the business office and clinic.
At 5 p.m., The Danley Band will perform, tailgating will begin, booths will be open to the public, hayrides near Rhonda's Pharmacy will also begin, bounce houses will open on the STAT parking lot, and carved and decorated pumpkins will be received for display and judging.
From 6 until 7:30 p.m., cake walks will be held every 15 minutes in front of the stage. The first walk will include children 10 and under; the second walk will be for those 11 to 18, and the third walk will include those 19 and older. Tickets are required to participate and will be available at Pineville's booth, located next to Whitten Law Office.
At 6:30 p.m., pumpkin judging will be conducted.
At about 9 p.m., prize announcements will be made on stage.
All activities are subject to cancellation in case of inclement weather.
