‘The Pitt’ trailer brings classic medical procedural style to Max with ‘ER’ star Noah Wyle [Watch]
Noah Wyle is scrubbing back in.
On Thursday, Max released a trailer for its upcoming medical procedural “The Pitt,” a show so similar to Emmy-winning ‘90s megahit “ER” that Michael Crichton’s widow sued.

“ER” veteran Wyle stars in and executive-produces “The Pitt,” which is created by “ER” writer R. Scott Gemmill and executive-produced by “ER” showrunner John Wells. It’s set in the emergency room at a Pittsburgh hospital, with its 15 episodes taking place over the course of 15 hours. Wyle is Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, who’s supervising a team of med students and interns on their first day. It’s a tense, relentless drama that’s the 2025 streaming version of a traditional medical procedural, which means it’s pretty similar, but with more f-words. There’s laughter, there’s tears, there’s miraculous rescues and tragic deaths. All in a day’s work at the Pitt.
In addition to Wyle, the main cast includes Tracey Ifeachor (Dr. Collins), Patrick Marron Ball (Dr. Langdon), Supriya Ganesh (Dr. Mohan), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. King), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos), Gerran Howell (Whitaker), Shabana Azeez (Javadi), and Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans). Shawn Hatosy, who starred in Wells’ previous show “Animal Kingdom,” is prominently featured in a recurring role in the trailer.
Sherri Crichton alleges that “The Pitt” originally started out as an “ER” revival that the producers changed to a new show during contract negotiations to avoid paying Crichton’s estate, a claim Warner Bros. denies.
“The Pitt” premieres in January 2025.
