‘Planetarium’ Stars Natalie Portman And Lily-Rose Depp On Their Portrayal of American Spiritualist Sisters
A French filmmaker known for the films Belle épine and Grand Central, Rebecca Zlotowski brought the star power of Natalie Portman and Lily-Rose Depp to her latest, Planetarium, telling the story of two spiritualist American sisters whose talents are sought out by a renowned French film producer (acclaimed French actor Emmanuel Salinger). An otherworldly, dreamlike film, the period film—set in the 1930s—was shot on location in France, where Depp spent her formative years.
In a Deadline video exclusive above, the director and cast come together to discuss the genesis of the project, capturing the period of the ’30s, connecting to the dead, and the real-life people who served as inspiration for the film’s protagonists.
Videos produced by Neil Hansen/Route Eleven, camera work by Meaghan Gable and Ida Jokinen. Special thanks to Image Skin Care Canada, Calii Love, Commune, Dan Gunam, and Silverline Studios.
