‘Preacher’ Recap: Jesse Realizes He’s Got Special Powers
The second episode, titled “See,” of the Preacher series gave viewers a little bit more insight into what is in store for Jesse. In the episode, Jesse finally realizes he has been given some type of superpower, though he’s not quite sure what it is or how to properly use it.
According to the comics, he is possessed by Genesis, a half-angel, half-demon being. All Jesse and the viewers have witnessed is that he has the ability to control the minds of people and dogs.
In “See,” Jesse uses his power to silence barking dogs as well as make a dangerous pedophile forget about his target. The episode ends with Jesse using his power to try to revive a girl in a coma.
While Jesse is discovering his new abilities, there are other supernatural forces at play. There are two beings we learned are immortal after Cassidy chopped them up and yet they appeared sound as a pound the following day.
Cassidy is an intriguing character too, as he is a chemical-dependent vampire that for some reason has taken a liking to a preacher.
While the show is slow to reveal information, it still manages to hold the viewer’s attention just enough to tune in next week and learn more.
Preacher airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
