Prince William Might Have 'Poached' One of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Allies for Earthshot Prize

Prince William just made a move on Sept. 3 with his Earthshot Prize Council that some royal watchers are calling a blow to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Chef José Andrés, who is well known for his humanitarian work with World Central Kitchen, joined the Prince of Wales’ board even though Andrés has been a close friend to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex over the years.

“I am thrilled to join the Earthshot Prize Council to help showcase the changemakers pushing the boundaries of innovation and ingenuity around the world,” Chef Andrés said in a statement on the Earthshot website. “There is so much we can do to inspire the world to see food as a powerful tool for creativity and change, and Earthshot solutions are at the forefront of this movement.” That revelation sent Sussex critics into a tailspin because they believed it fueled the royal family rivalry even more.

A source told The Daily Beast that Andrés’ decision to help out Prince William showed that he was “poached” by the future king. It was a “humiliating” situation for Harry and Meghan because it proved “a very graphic illustration of the power differential between William and Harry.” It remains to be seen if this will even be an issue with the California couple or if it is just a media headline because the family feud still exists.

The insider believes that the Sussexes will be crushed by the news. “José Andrés is a uniquely respected figure, and he was very much promoted by the Sussexes over the Covid years,” they claimed. “Faced with a choice, when it comes to advancing the goals of his organization, Andrés has chosen to be allied with the future king of England, and Harry and Meghan will have to either accept it or cut ties with him themselves.” The Sussexes have praised Andrés’ World Central Kitchen in the past, even using Princess Lilibet’s first birthday as a fundraiser for the charity.

The latest round of royal family controversy seems part of a larger British tabloid ploy to make it look like Harry has failed in the U.S. and needs to return to the palace immediately. The Telegraph noted on Sept. 2 that the Duke of Sussex had “no interest” in returning to his senior royal role and his actions seem to indicate he’s enjoying his California life. Harry even told Good Morning America in February that he may file for U.S. citizenship in the near future. “It’s a thought that has crossed my mind but it’s not a high priority for me right now,” he said.

Chef Andrés, who was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize earlier this year, just might be a guy who wants to help out wherever he can. He probably isn’t as invested in the royal rift as the British press, and he can stay neutral by being friends with both Prince William and Prince Harry.
