PVDonuts leaving Ives Street in June but will reopen in new location
PVDonuts, Providence's original and wildly popular artisan doughnut shop, will leave their Ives Street home after seven years. They will reopen in an as yet unnamed location.
The bakery and coffee shop, owned by Lori and Paul Kettelle, announced the news on social media posting a "Farewell Ives St." menu. They will serve a menu of 28 favorites, from brioche and cake to vegan and flourless, through the closing date of June 25.
"Don’t worry - we’ve already started working on our new home and are prioritizing the kitchen as to not impact any weddings/special events that we’re booked for during our downtime!" said the announcement on Instagram.
The Kettelles are not ready to share where the new home will be. As to why they are leaving Ives, they posted a simple sentence: "To keep it short, we could not come to a financially sustainable agreement on a lease renewal."
They started back in 2016 as a pop-up at Sin, the dessert shop which was then on industrial Allens Avenue. They moved into 79 Ives and the lines of fans began to form. Even now, they regularly sell out.
Each month, PVDonuts posts a new menu featuring a variety of styles even including doughnut holes and filled pastries Their brilliant marketing, as well as their always interesting flavors, have kept the business popular. Even with the heavy-hearted announcement, they asked fans to share their favorite memory on the post and enter to win a chance for a $100 gift card for the business.
Last year, they opened a sister business, Oak Bake Shop, a self-described Jew-ish bakery at 130 Cypress St. in Providence.
