Queen of Divorce Episode 1 Recap: How Did Lee Ji-Ah End up in Prison?
Starring Lee Ji-Ah and Kang Ki-Young, Queen of Divorce Episode 1 aired on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, on JTBC. The K-drama tells the story of a former daughter-in-law of a big law firm and her transformation into a savage team leader of her own company.
The premiere episode features Lee Ji-Ah as Kim Sa-Ra, a lawyer and a responsible daughter-in-law of the Chayul Law Firm. The episode begins with her introduction as the team leader of a divorce consulting company, Solution. She, along with her team, helps spouses who are wronged during a divorce settlement.
The K-drama episode then shows how Sa-Ra ends up at Solution. Two years back, she was forced to leave her marriage and her kid and was sent to prison. Her mother-in-law, aka the chairwoman of the Chayul Law Firm, planned a scheme against Sa-Ra and made her cut ties with the family.

In Queen of Divorce episode 1, Lee Ji-Ah’s Sa-Ra marries the chaebol heir of Chayul Law Firm for a successful career. She tolerates her mother-in-law’s taunts and neglects her for years but still doesn’t give up on impressing her. Sa-Ra wants her husband’s mother to accept her as the daughter-in-law.
Instead of accepting her, Chairwoman Cha Hui-Won frames Sa-Ra for fraud. She lures her son into the case and asks him to make up his mind to leave Sa-Ra and marry into a prestigious family. Hence, she first forces Sa-Ra to win an impossible case against a domestic abuse victim. When Ji-Ah’s character realizes that she is being used, she helps the victim named Son Jang-Mi (Kim Sun-Young).
To stop Sa-Ra from harming the company’s reputation, Hui-Won frames her in a fake divorce case. Sa-Ra’s husband, Noh Yul-Sung (Oh Min-Suk), supports his mother and lets the lead character take the fall. He later informs her that they will get a real divorce and that the custody of their son will go to him. Losing all hope in the world, Sa-Ra lives a helpless life in prison.
Queen of Divorce episode 1 ending: Oh Min-Suk becomes the obstacle in Lee Ji-Ah & Kang Ki-Young’s lives
After ruining Sa-Ra’s life, Oh Min-Suk’s Yul-Sung is set to marry into a prestigious family in Queen of Divorce episode 1. At his proposal party, his mistress appears and creates a scene. When he was married to Sa-Ra, he cheated on her with this mistress, promising to marry her once he cut ties with Lee Ji-Ah’s character.
Kang Ki-Young’s Dong Gi-Jun notices the chaos outside Yul-Sung’s party. He ignores it at the time but becomes curious when the mistress is killed in a road accident the same night. Gi-Jun is a well-known prosecutor who is Sa-Ra’s ex and also someone who helped her earlier in the domestic abuse case.
He takes over the mistress’ case and gets suspicious of Yul-Sung. While the news broadcasts that she committed suicide, a part-timer at Sa-Ra’s mother’s restaurant has evidence that tells a different story.
Towards Queen of Divorce episode 1 ending, Sa-Ra’s mother arrives at Gi-Jun’s firm. She asks for him so that she can hand over the evidence. Unfortunately, Yul-Sung sees her and gives her a call to scare her. Gi-Jun notices something odd about Yul-Sung but cannot figure it out, indicating that the rich heir can become an obstacle in Gi-Jun’s investigation.
Meanwhile, the domestic case victim, Son Jang-Mi, pays a visit to Sa-Ra in prison. She tells her about starting a divorce consultancy firm called Solution. Jang-Mi wants to hire Sa-Ra as a team leader who can bring justice to suffering spouses.
