Rachel Bloom’s ‘Death, Let Me Do My Show’ Slated for Netflix Special
Rachel Bloom’s one-woman stage show Death, Let Me Do My Show is slated to come to Netflix in the early fall.
Bloom is currently performing the show at the Williamstown Theater Festival at Williams College in Massachusetts, and plans to film the July 12 and July 13 performances. The production started performances there on July 5 and runs through July 14.

The creation of the show came as Bloom, the co-creator and star of The CW’s musical television series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, had written a musical stand-up show in 2019 and planned to take it on tour 2020, but was delayed by the pandemic. Then, days after Bloom gave birth to her daughter in March 2020, her friend and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend songwriting partner, Adam Schlesinger, died after contracting COVID-19.
Bloom decided to pivot the show to focus on her initial unwillingness to confront the events of the past few years and then being forced to confront Schlesigner’s death as well as other trauma she experienced during that time. This is still set to a mix of humorous, original songs in Bloom’s signature style.
“When I was going through this, the thing that saved me was silly things, watching funny movies, reading silly books. It helped me. There used to be a whole part in the show about how death hates comedy because comedy makes you forget death is coming,” Bloom told THR in September 2023.
The show, directed by Seth Barrish, has played off-Broadway in New York, London, Los Angeles and Chicago, as well as other cities across the U.S. She also performed the show at the Netflix Is a Joke Festival in Los Angeles in early May.
