Rachel Sennott Comedy Pilot Picked Up To Series By HBO
HBO has ordered an ensemble comedy series starring, written and executive produced by Rachel Sennott.
The project, about a codependent friend group that reunites, navigating how the time apart, ambition, and new relationships have changed them, originated as a pilot, which Sennott executive produced with Emma Barrie (HBO’s Barry), Aida Rodgers (HBO’s Barry), and Lorene Scafaria (HBO’s Succession), who directed it.

“Rachel is as hilarious as she is charming,” said Amy Gravitt, EVP HBO and Max Comedy Programming. “With Lorene and Emma, she has captured the comedy and the beauty that happens when friendships collide with our best laid plans. We’re thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with this talented team and this exquisite cast.”
Sennott stars alongside Odessa A’zion (Sitting in Bars with Cake), Jordan Firstman (Rotting in the Sun), Miles Robbins (Blockers) and True Whitaker (Godfather of Harlem). Just like it was at the pilot stage, the project remains untitled, something Sennott promises to rectify.
“I’m so grateful to Amy and HBO for the opportunity to make this show and the wonderful team that has been a part of creating it,” she said. “And I’m going to come up with a title soon I promise!”
The Rachell Sennott project, which draws parallels to Lena Dunham’s award-winning HBO comedy series Girls, was one of two comedy pilots HBO ordered this past spring. Decision on the other, Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin’s The Chair Company, is expected soon. HBO also recently gave a straight-to-series order to a Bill Lawrence-Matt Tarses comedy starring Steve Carell as the network is replenishing its half-hour ranks following the end of stalwarts Curb Your Enthusiasm and Barry.
After breaking out as the star of the 2020 comedy film Shiva Baby, Sennott starred in, co-wrote and executive produced the breakout Prime Video comedy movie Bottoms.
