Update on Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 171: Filming Start Date Window Revealed
Superstar Rajinikanth has a long lineup of upcoming movies. Even after spending four decades in the industry, he is one of the most active actors. His back-to-back schedules prove his dedication to entertaining his beloved fans. Among his upcoming movies, one of the most awaited ones is his collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The movie is tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, as it marks the superstar’s 171st project.
Lokesh Kanagaraj has been working on Thalaivar 171 for a while now. During a recent conversation with Gobinath, the filmmaker revealed that he created the base of the plot and then approached Rajinikanth. He said, “Once that was over, I approached Rajini sir and narrated the story to him, and he approved it. I had decided that this would be my next film while Leo was in the works. However, I just needed some personal time after Leo and thus took a 30-35 day break, not doing anything.”
Once the superstar was on board, Kamal Haasan was the first one to call him to congratulate him on his new project. While the details about the movie are currently under wraps, the director spilled some beans. He also shared a major update on the filming.

Lokesh Kanagaraj further shared updates on the movie’s filming process. He revealed that the Rajinikanth starrer will enter the production stage in April 2024. He said, “I am confident that the writing process will be done by then.” Kanagaraj further revealed that the superstar often gets in touch with him to learn about the script’s progress.

The filmmaker also revealed that the upcoming film will be a high-octane action. He mentioned that it is a new genre for him. “It’s going to be a high-octane action film for Rajini sir after many years,” the director said.
