“This is an opportunity for us to sit down and really have some meaningful conversations,” Cooper Kupp said on the podcast’s premiere episode.
Alongside the podcast, the Kupps also launched Dodo Coffee, a coffee shop with a brick-and-mortar store in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
“What better opportunity to do this piece and go and launch a podcast around the launch of our coffee shop,” Cooper Kupp said.
Anna Marie added, “We love good conversation around coffee, intentional conversation that has substance.”
In the first episode, the couple opened up about the challenges they faced in 2018 when the Rams were headed to the Super Bowl, Cooper Kupp was injured, and Anna Marie Kupp’s first pregnancy.
“We had a really good team. I go through a series of [injuries]. Season’s over,” Cooper Kupp recalled. “That can be a very discouraging place to be. In a place where your team’s moving forward but you’re not able to participate in it. The understanding that this is part of a journey [and] this doesn’t stop here. I am discouraged because I’m hurt, but I am encouraged because I get to go after this thing [and] I get to rebuild myself.”
Anne Marie said that while Cooper Kupp was recovering from his injuries, she was also taking care of their three-month-old baby and having to be a nurse.
“You were in pain. There were so many external emotions that you’re working through,” Anna Marie continued. “And then just to watch football on Sunday as if nothing had happened and our world is completely turned upside down.”
Anna Marie realized that football would continue whether they were there or not, which took weight off of her, adding, “This is important, but this isn’t the main thing. And the main thing is the main thing. And being able to then release some of that pressure of, like, football is a huge part of our life, and I love that it is, and it’s going to come and go. I want to love it because I get to experience it with you… this is what is fulfillment to me.”
