For Stephen Huszar and Katie Cassidy, the romance that started a year ago in the Hallmark Channel movie A Royal Christmas Crush is not only going strong, but it might be leading to wedding bells in the near future. Cassidy admitted so to Us Weekly recently, saying “I think I’m certainly more open to something, whether it be now or in the near future with this person, but I certainly didn’t ever think that I could say that again.”

Cassidy, who was previously married to Matthew Rodgers, whom she divorced in 2020, also told Us Weekly that the possibility of walking down the aisle with Huszar is “a conversation I’ve had with myself that I don’t think I expected to have with myself.”

Huszar, in the meantime, told Heavy: “I am open to a lot of things. Yeah, absolutely. So, yeah. Certainly, certainly that’s in the cards. Absolutely.”
The two actors just clicked when they met each other while filming the Hallmark movie A Royal Christmas Crush, and the chemistry was obvious from the start.
“I remember there’s this one scene in the barn where I literally am looking at him, and that was the moment for me,” Cassidy told Us Weekly in 2023 about her connection with Huszar. “I’m not kidding you. I’m, like, leaning on the table and he’s saying his lines and I just like, I think I like almost fell over.”

The actor also felt the sparks right away, adding in an extended video of their interview with Us Weekly: “I just think the more we got to know each other, we realized we’re basically the same person, just in different skin. Which was odd. I’ve never met someone that’s so similar in ways that I am. It’s been quite a journey.”
Cassidy and Huszar are far from the first Hallmark couple to have their on-screen romance become a thing off-screen. Patti Murin and Colin Donnell, Erin Krakow and Ben Rosenbaum, and Chris McNally and Julie Gonzalo are some examples of other Hallmark couples that have taken their romance from the screen to real life. And it’s worked out really well for them, so who’s to say it won’t work out just as well for Cassidy and Huszar?

For now, the couple is hoping they get to work on another project together soon, and Huszar even said he would love that project to be a sequel to A Royal Christmas Crush.
“Hallmark has their own ideas for things, but it certainly helps when, obviously, actors are pushing for something together and we have been. There are some other projects that we’re looking at doing together in the near future, so maybe that could be one of them. We’ll see.”
