Reese Witherspoon Reveals One Way Her Lookalike Son Tenn Is Just Like Her
Blonde hair and bright blue eyes aren’t the only things Reese Witherspoon passed down to her preteen son Tennessee “Tenn.” The Legally Blonde alum shared a new picture with her newly minted 12-year-old and revealed one big way her youngest child, with ex-husband Jim Toth, is just like her.
“Happy 12th Birthday to my wonderful son, Tenn! ??” Witherspoon wrote on Instagram today. “I’m so lucky to have your joyful, curious, hilarious spirit in my life making me laugh everyday.”

“I love you, buddy ??,” she added.
Hilarious and making her laugh? It sounds exactly what Witherspoon has done over her decades-long acting career (“What, like it’s hard?”), and we love that she passed the comedic trait down to her son.
In the photo, the mother-son duo looks like they are enjoying a birthday breakfast. They sit on the same side of a booth with Witherspoon in a black shirt and red cardigan, and Tenn in a blue-and-white Hawaiian shirt. The proud mama leans into her son, smiling with identical blue eyes and radiant smiles. They are so cute together!
The Morning Show star, who is also mom to daughter Ava, 25, and son Deacon, 20, with ex Ryan Phillippe, opened up about parenting in an Oct. 2023 interview on Good Inside With Dr. Becky. “Each one of your kids is gonna be totally different … As parents, it’s our job not to make them conform to who we want them to be — it’s our jobs to figure out who they are and help them play to their strengths,” she said, per The Independent.
Witherspoon added, “I have one very introverted kid, very quiet. I have a very social kid. And I have a kid who’s very talkative, very inquisitive, and like, almost endlessly curious.”
Understanding and appreciating the uniqueness of your kids is so valuable, and Witherspoon is wonderful example of that. We can’t wait to see how Tenn continues to grow with his mom supporting him every step of the way!
These celebrity parents are sharing the struggle — and sweetness — of raising teenagers.
