Remember the viral Walmart yodeling kid? Now he's grown up and coming to the Georgia Theatre

Mason Ramsey, the viral yodeling sensation who first captured the world's attention in 2018 with his performance of "Lovesick Blues" by Hank Williams in a Walmart, is coming to Athens for a live show at the Georgia Theatre on Sept. 21.

Hailing from Golconda, Illinois, a small town of about 700 people, Ramsey's journey from a viral video star to a dedicated country singer-songwriter has been nothing short of remarkable.

The now 17-year-old says that he was introduced to singing his favorite tunes by his Grandfather since he was the age of three.

"My grandpa was really what got me started into music, he would always play and sing Hank Williams songs everywhere we went," said Ramsey. "He's my biggest inspiration, honestly. And the reason that this whole thing is kind of doing this thing right now."

His rise to fame began in 2018 and 2019 when his Walmart performance went viral, but those initial years were just the beginning. During his COVID downtime, he spend quality time with family and honed his music songwriting skills.

In 2024, Ramsey started working on his album, "I’ll See You In My Dreams," which comes out on Sept. 20. This is Ramsey's "coming of age" album. His new work is a grown-up artist, not a yodeling kid in Walmart.

Ramsey is now gearing up for his next tour, which he says he is very excited for. The Falls Into Place Tour part 2 kicks off on Sept. 19, with 38 total shows.

"I've already done a spring tour this spring, and then now we're going to be doing a fall tour soon, so that'll be really sick," said Ramsey.
