ReneƩ Rapp shares her honest thoughts about dating apps

There's one place you won't find ReneƩ Rapp, and that's on a dating app.

The singer and ā€œMean Girlsā€ musical star told actor Rachel Sennott on the new episode of the ā€œClose Friends Only With Instagramā€œ podcast that sheā€™s ā€œnever done a dating appā€ and that they terrify her.

ā€œIt scares the s--- out of me,ā€ Rapp said. ā€œFor some reason, I was never like, ā€˜Oh, thatā€™s something I could do.ā€™... I think of just Christian Mingle. Iā€™m like, ā€˜Oh, thatā€™s for elderly Christians. Iā€™m not that.ā€™ā€

Rapp, who said sheā€™s ā€œnot a small talk gal,ā€ agreed with Sennott on not knowing if youā€™re attracted to someone until you meet in person. ā€œBased off of experience, thereā€™s no way to tell (if youā€™re interested) from a photo... or a video or like a long video,ā€ Rapp said. ā€œYou might think that youā€™re really attracted to someone and youā€™re just not.ā€

Sennott said that dating apps, for her, are for people looking to ā€œfind love.ā€

ā€œItā€™s so vulnerable, (whereas) on Instagram, you always have that out of, I just liked your photo,ā€ the ā€œBottomsā€ actor said, sharing that when she flirts on Instagram sheā€™s ā€œgiving nothing.ā€

ā€œIā€™m giving a follow and, like, one like,ā€ she said. ā€œAnd thatā€™s like as much as itā€™s gonna go and then Iā€™m like, ā€˜That was your T-up.ā€™ So DM. But I feel like a follow feels pretty direct to me.ā€

Elsewhere in their conversation, Rapp confirmed that she's working on a new album. While she couldn't share details about her sophomore album, she did share what has inspired her.

ā€œ(Age) 23 to 24 has been a massive difference for me,ā€ she explained. ā€œItā€™s also about a reflection on my 23rd year specifically.ā€

While appearing on TODAY in January, Rapp spoke about her new music and recalled working with Megan Thee Stallion on ā€œNot My Faultā€ for the ā€œMean Girlsā€ musical soundtrack.

ā€œWe just started talking about it and she was just like, ā€˜Oh, no, absolutely,ā€™ā€ Rapp recalled, saying that the rapper gave her ā€œan immediate yesā€ to collaborating. ā€œWhich was really exciting for me because Iā€™m such a big fan of hers and sheā€™s iconic. Sheā€™s also one of the hottest people Iā€™ve ever seen in my life.ā€
