It seems there’s been some clarification following rumors that emerged this morning about Aaron Taylor-Johnson being offered the role of James Bond.

According to a knowledgeable source that spoke with E! News, Taylor-Johnson has not actually been offered the role of 007 at this time. The outlet then notes that this doesn’t necessarily mean the actor would turn down the role of James Bond if it was offered to him, as he spoke to Esquire last year and neither confirmed or denied the possibility of being in talks for the role.

What was the most recent James Bond movie?

The most recent James Bond film was 2021’s No Time to Die, which was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga from a script written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns with Fukunaga, and Emmy winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve).

The 25th James Bond film featured the return of Daniel Craig as he reprised the timeless role for the last time. He was joined by franchise alums Ralph Fiennes as M, Lea Seydoux as Madeline, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, Rory Kinnear as Tanner, and Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter. It also starred new cast members Rami Malek as Safin, Lashana Lynch as Nomi, Ana De Armas as Paloma, Dali Benssalah as Primo, Billy Magnussen as Logan, and David Dencik as Valdo.
