‘Reservoir Dogs,’ ‘Kill Bill’ Star Michael Madsen Arrested for Domestic Battery
Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill star Michael Madsen was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of domestic battery, according to a booking report from Malibu’s Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department.
"On August 17, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., deputies responded to the 31600 block of Broad Beach Road in the City of Malibu regarding a family disturbance,” a representative for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LAUSD) told Entertainment Weekly. “The informant stated that a female adult alleged her husband pushed her and locked her out of their residence.”
The statement continued: "Based on the initial investigation, deputies determined Michael Madsen was involved in a domestic incident involving his wife. Mr. Madsen was arrested for misdemeanor Spousal Battery (violation of 243(e)(1) P.C.). He was transported and booked at Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station."
Madsen was held on a $20,000 bail, which he quickly posted. “Michael is at home,” the actor's reps told EW.
Madsen is a famed actor with well over 300 credits to his name. He’s most revered for his collaborations with director Quentin Tarantino, having starred in the director’s first film, Reservoir Dogs. Madsen also had major supporting roles in Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, as well as Tarantino’s 2016 thriller The Hateful Eight. He also had a brief cameo at the beginning of Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood.
Madsen has had several brushes with the law in the past. In 2012, he was arrested at his Malibu home after an alleged physical encounter between himself and his teenage son, CBS News reported at the time. In 2022, Madsen was again arrested in Malibu for trespassing on an unnamed property.
Madsen’s 2022 arrest occurred just one month after his 26-year-old son, Oliver, committed suicide at his home in Hawaii. “It's so tragic and sad,” Madsen told The Los Angeles Times in a 2022 statement. “I'm just trying to make sense of everything and understand what happened."
The LAUSD told Entertainment Weekly that the investigation into Madsen’s most recent arrest “is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court House [sic] for filing."
