Robin Roberts Reveals Injury After Returning to 'GMA'
Robin Roberts on 'Good Morning America'
Fans can rest assured that Robin Roberts is a-OK after her absence on Monday, April 29's edition of Good Morning America.
The seasoned anchor returned to viewers' screens on the morning of April 29, taking back her normal spot from ABC News' Linsey Davis, who filled in for the 63-year-old.
Roberts' co-anchor George Stephanopoulos teased the journalist at the end of a segment on padel tennis, per People, that might have hit a little too close to home for her after obtaining a sports-related injury over the weekend.
“I don’t want you to get upset seeing that tennis on the screen," he joked. "I know you had a little spill this weekend.”
“Oh, no no. You should've seen the other guy!" she countered, stabbing her hand into the air. "I mean, I tried to uppercut.” But, unfortunately, she did take a "little tumble on the tennis court."
"Maybe I’ll take up padel," she acquiesced. "Maybe that’ll be my sport.”
The host had bandages wrapped around one of her arms, poking out from under her shirt sleeve and coming to an end around the palm of her hand, and while she wouldn't “confirm or deny” her use of pain meds, she admitted to "seeing rainbows."
In her regular morning update video with her "Glam Fam," Roberts confirmed it was fractured. Despite years of playing sports, including as a college basketball star at Southeastern Louisiana University, she never suffered a break before this.
“All my years of being a competitive athlete, my first fracture and hopefully my last one as well,” she said.
