Rock God Dave Grohl Chugs Beer, Falls Off Stage at First Foo Fighters Show of 2019
There are some pretty fucked up stories in rock and roll history-from Iggy Pop getting injured at Max's Kansas City in 1973 and spurting blood on the audience to Keith Moon literally overdosing on stage, to a Rolling Stones concert turning into an actual Hells Angels brawl. But, you know, these days rock and roll has kind of mellowed out. It's the music of parents and well-behaved hipsters.
In this era, Dave Grohl has positioned himself as the fun uncle of rock and roll, and is charged with keeping the spirit of the genre alive. As such, he's prone to occasional onstage accidents, like when he broke his leg during a 2015 Foo Fighters concert in Sweden, and returned to finish the show (which, to be honest, is pretty rock and roll).
Sure, the genre is quite a bit more tame in 2019, but Grohl is doing his best.
Just this week, Grohl tried to get a little crazy during a Foo Fighters show at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas as part of CES.
He's doing some sort of guitar solo, he's really fucking into it, and someone hands him a beer. He takes it and attempts to set it on the PA and grab it with his mouth, but accidentally spills it all over the speaker (which likely pissed off some distraught sound guy). So he grabs it with his hand, chugs it, and climbs back on stage, but loses his footing and just eats shit off stage.
It's kind of sad to watch! Like watching your dad a little too wild at a wedding.
At least he didn't hurt himself this time.
Here's to 2019 being uphill from here for the Foo Fighters.
