Ronan Farrow reveals bizarre threat from Oath Keeper who stormed the Capitol
Journalist Ronan Farrow appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Tuesday, where he discussed disturbing threats he allegedly received from Donovan Crowl, a former marine and current member of the militia group known as the Oath Keepers. Crowl took part in an interview with Farrow shortly after he participated in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Farrow mentioned Crowl’s belief in phrenology in his original article, which was published in The New Yorker. Phrenology is a pseudoscience which predicts mental traits based on the measurement of bumps on the skull. But he was surprised in a follow-up interview when Crowl mentioned his head, and then hurled a bizarre threat.
Farrow claims Crowl told him, “I studied the shape of your head before I gave an interview to you, and I'm going to eat a family member of your's face.”
While Crowl was arrested for his involvement in the attacks on January 6, he has since been released and is awaiting trial. Farrow reacted to news of the release by sarcastically saying, “So that's lovely.”
As for Crowl’s thoughts on Farrow’s head, the journalist said, “You know, I didn't press as to whether his conclusion was my skull was so misshapen that he felt like he could really have a conversation on the level with me, or whether he felt like it was a great skull. I didn't really go there. But it's not always a totally rational set of beliefs rooted in facts, let's say.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
