Rosalía took a break from her grungy Motomami style to embrace a look that was all daydreams and spirituality and romance.
For a day out in New York City’s TriBeCa neighborhood Monday, the Spanish rapper pulled a lavender set from Issey Miyake’s Fall/Winter 2004 collection, inspired by artist Aya Takano’s painting Earth Seen From the Moon. The artwork features whimsical illustrations of the Earth, the constellations, and people, animals, and flowers, all floating together in an blissful abyss.
The airy two-piece ensemble—composed of a sleeveless top and an asymmetric layered midi skirt—has those same illustrations, arranged in a patchwork design on a breezy semi-sheer fabric in painterly purples, pinks, and blues.
Rosalía capped off the outfit with equally quirky shoes, namely the pointy white leather Victorian runner pumps by Invasive Modification. She accessorized only with simple silver mini hoops, and had on her signature acrylic long nails and glossy burgundy lip.
The “Bizcochito” singer, who is working on her new album and celebrating her contract as global ambassador for Dior, is in town for New York Fashion Week. This Tuesday, she is set to attend the much-awaited Elena Velez runway show. In her recent cover story interview with Highsnobiety, Rosalía got candid about her love of fashion, and when asked about her favorite emerging designers today said: “I really like Elena Velez—although I am not sure she’s emerging anymore. I really like the fabrics and colors of Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen.”
