‘Roseanne’ Promos Are Here to Stoke The Last Shred of Your ’90s Nostalgia — Watch
ABC has released the first round of promos for its forthcoming “Roseanne” reboot, with Roseanne Barr’s signature cackle capping off each one. The network is reviving the series, which ran for nine seasons from 1988-1997, in an attempt to appeal to middle class viewers. The sitcom follows the middle class Conner family, and the new iteration will feature the entire original cast in one way or another (“The Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki will return for at least one episode). The cast includes Barr as the titular character and creator, John Goodman as her husband Dan, Sara Gilbert as their daughter Darlene, and Laurie Metcalfe as Jackie.
In order to get Goodman back into the fold, the writers had to ignore the fact that Dan died in the series finale in 1997. In the newly released promos, the writers (including “Whitney” creator Whitney Cummings) poke fun at his miraculous return, as well as the show’s own resurrection.
“You can’t live in the past, Dan. When things are gone, they’re gone forever,” Roseanne says in one.
“When I played football, when you got a concussion you got right back in the game,” Dan says in another.

“The Conners’ joys and struggles are as relevant — and hilarious — today as they were then, and there’s really no one better to comment on our modern America than Roseanne,” said ABC president Channing Dungey in May. Dungey also promised that the revival will be “very much tonally be similar to the original” and “unflinching, honest and irreverent at times.”
“Roseanne” premieres on ABC on March 27 at 8 p.m. ET.
