Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have teased each other for years. What to know about their friendship
Hugh Jackman praised Ryan Reynolds as a father and friend in the latest episode of "Hot Ones."
The "Deadpool & Wolverine" stars appeared on the YouTube show in an episode posted on the platform July 25. “Deadpool & Wolverine” opens in theaters July 26.
"Great father, great family, great friend. Loves his job. Loves his work," Jackman said.
Reynolds shares children James, Inez, Betty and a fourth child whom he recently appeared to reveal is named Olin with his wife, Blake Lively.
Jackman then quickly joked that Reynolds made him do the hot wing-eating show.
"He said if you don't, I'm going to just disparage you and make fun of you and tell all of Australia that you just didn't have the guts and Canada is better," Jackman said, referring to their respective native countries.
Their friendship is largely summed up by how much they roast each other.

How did Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman meet?
The Hollywood A-listers met in 2007 while filming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in Sydney.
Reynolds told People for his May 2024 joint cover story with Jackman that he was aimlessly walking the film's home base when Jackman called out to him.
“I heard my name, ‘Ryan!’ in between these trailers as I was walking. And it was you,” Reynolds said. “Just the fact that you knew my name meant so much to me. And you came over, you gave me a big hug and you said, ‘Welcome aboard. It’s all going to be fine. We’re going to make you comfortable.’”
They like to poke fun at each other
In 2016, Reynolds appeared with a cutout of Jackman's face over his own in "Deadpool." Jackman got his lick back that December by posting a video on Instagram with a cutout of Reynolds' face over his own to celebrate Reynolds getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“How could a guy who failed his high school drama class be this talented?” Jackman said. “I have no answer for that. But to quote my favorite actor in the world, the great Australian Hugh Jackman, who, by the way, was People’s Sexiest Man Alive way before me, ‘Americans are the most generous country on the planet.’”
In 2023, Jackman jokingly begged the Academy Awards not to nominate Reynolds for best original song for "Good Afternoon" from the film "Spirited."
After offering several compliments to the rest of the cast, such as Octavia Spencer and Will Ferrell, plus composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Jackman proceeded to needle Reynolds.
“Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the best song category would make the next year of my life insufferable,” he said.
“I have to spend a year with him shooting ‘Wolverine & Deadpool’ and trust me, it would be impossible. It would be a problem. So, just to recap. Love ‘Spirited.’ Love Will. Love Octavia. Love the song ‘Good Afternoon.’ Love Benj and Justin. But please, please, from the bottom of my heart, do not validate Ryan Reynolds in this way. Please," he said.
The two put their friendship on display in the lead-up to the release of "Deadpool & Wolverine" in July 2024 by appearing on "Hot Ones" and by guest-hosting "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
