Ryan Reynolds is concerned his daughter might follow in his footsteps
Ryan Reynolds stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday to promote his new Michael Bay-directed Netflix film, 6 Underground, and, while there, the actor also revealed that his and Blake Lively's eldest daughter, James, said the words that no actor ever wants to hear — she wants to be an actor, too.
While Reynolds said he's totally fine with his first born acting in school-related activities, he's definitely, maybe not OK with her following in his footsteps as a movie star.
"I'm fine if she wants to be an actor. Like, go ahead. Like, you know, in school do, like, after school stuff. Like, that's all fine," Reynolds explained to Fallon. He added, "Right now, it's every day. It's, like, a recital, she's singing songs, she's doing little plays at home, all that stuff but, like, being a child actor in, like, movies and stuff? That's, like, a whole other ball of wax."
Reynolds and Lively are known for being very private about their children. However, since the two are staying mum on their newest baby's name, the 6 Underground star chose to open up about their first daughter instead. Kind of.
"I explained to her, I was like, 'Look, you know, that's a huge burden on your nervous system. I mean, having to, you know, process all of that attention and information. Also you develop all these, like, unhealthy coping mechanisms,'" Reynolds joked.
James turns 5 this month, so she didn't quite understand what her father was explaining to her. Nevertheless, Reynolds being Reynolds, the actor had a proposal for how to get her in the fast lane.
"I was like, 'You know what. Here's what's cheaper and easier ... let's just skip showbiz and enroll you right into cocaine.'"
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
