Ryan Seacrest Documents His 1st Day on the 'Wheel of Fortune' Stage: 'My Heart's Pounding'

It’s safe to say that celebs get first day jitters, too! Longtime television personality Ryan Seacrest, who is slated to host the next season of Wheel of Fortune in the wake of Pat Sajak’s retirement, took to Instagram to chronicle his first day on the show — and it was adorable as can be!

The video begins with the 49-year-old host first giving the wheel a spin a few months ago and jumps all the way to his first day on set. Upon arrival, Seacrest reveals in the clip, “My heart’s pounding, I’m so excited.”

He then goes on to admit that the wheel looks to be a bit smaller than you might think, followed jokingly with, “As am I.”

Throughout the video, Seacrest shows viewers around backstage, including the show’s Emmy awards, famous dresses of Vanna White’s, Guinness World Records and the brand-new host even stopped to pose next to a cardboard cutout of Sajak and White, asking, “Who’s taller?”

Seacrest later reveals in the video, “You know, I could not sleep last night, I was so excited. I slept OK, but still very excited for the alarm to go off.”

While Seacrest is excited to take the reins over this iconic game show, the new host recognizes that if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it!

With this game show, it's such a success and has been for generations,” he told PEOPLE. “You don't mess with it, just don't mess with it. Just get out of the way, say ‘Good evening’ and let's play.”

For Seacrest, his new gig comes in the wake of him stepping away from LIVE with Kelly and Ryan. He had been a part of the show for six years before making his pivot to Wheel of Fortune

In a post shared to his Instagram in February, he paid tribute to his longtime co-host amidst the news of his departure.

I’m going to miss my work wife and all the laughter we share,” he wrote. “When I signed on to host Live in 2017 it was meant to be for 3 years, but I loved the job and working with Kelly so much that I extended my time and last year I made the decision to stay on for one more final season. I’ve been grateful to be able to share a cup of coffee with our viewers everyday, one of the best parts of the gig.”

We can’t wait to see how Ryan Seacrest does in his new gig, and know that the long time host will certainly not disappoint!
