Saddle up for new Toy Story 4 footage in Super Bowl spot
A few teases here and there have made way for this latest sneak peek at Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 4, due in theaters this summer.
The teaser — which debuted on Super Bowl Sunday — sheds light on what Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and the rest of their plasticine posse have been up to under the ownership of new kid Bonnie. In Toy Story 4, the gang hits the highway for a family road trip that exposes the toys to a world far beyond the playroom; along their travels, they encounter fresh-eyed carnival misfits and face an unexpected reunion with Bo Peep, whose life on the road has changed her drastically since her porcelain days in Andy’s bedroom.
For those keeping track, TS4 isn’t the first continuation of the story of the toys post-Andy’s Trilogy (as it’s been unofficially dubbed). The characters’ life with Bonnie has lived on in various shorts: the Toy Story Toons series (Small Fry, Hawaiian Vacation, and Partysaurus Rex), as well as the television specials Toy Story of Terror! and Toy Story That Time Forgot.
Toy Story 4’s voice cast includes returning players Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Annie Potts, Wallace Shawn, John Ratzenberger, Blake Clark, the late Don Rickles, and Estelle Harris, as well as new cast members Keanu Reeves, Tony Hale (as craft-turned-toy Forky), Keegan-Michael Key (as Ducky), and Jordan Peele (as Bunny).
Toy Story 4 arrives in theaters June 21, 2019, marking almost exactly nine years since the last film in the franchise, 2010’s Oscar-winning Toy Story 3.
