Sarah Ferguson is opening up about how the royal family is supporting one another as three members–including herself, Kate Middleton and King Charles III–battle cancer.

The Duchess of York emphasized that "family unity is key" to getting through tough times in a new interview with Hello! Magazine published on Monday, June 3.

"I think the key is that you don't have to be in anyone's face – the odd note, the odd: 'Hello, we're all here,'" she told the outlet, adding, "I was so impressed that the King became patron of Cancer Research UK; it's such an amazing move."

The 64-year-old continued, praising Kate for how she handled public speculation about her health and, in turn, going public with her cancer diagnosis.

"And I think the Princess of Wales was so brave with that video [in which Kate made her diagnosis public]. I think family unity is key. I love that the royal family are all supporting each other and carry on."

The duchess also shared a sweet shoutout to her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, gushing to the outlet: "I have the most exceptional family and an extraordinarily great team. I have an enormous ability to turn to joy."

As for how she handled own cancer diagnoses, "I think it woke me up," she said.

"It gave me a swift kick in the butt and told me: 'Right, are you going to start living now, at 64, or are you going to keep on not quite living?'"

The royal was recently diagnosed with skin cancer shortly after she successfully completed treatment for her battle with breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in June 2023.

Thankfully, her regimen appears to be working, as the duchess was in good spirits while attending the amfAR Gala at the Cannes Film Festival a few weeks ago. "This evening, I am doing very well," she told reporters at the time. "I think that we've managed to get cancer in the right place rather than cancer ruling me. I've put cancer in the corner."
