Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Wedding Anniversary Tribute to Freddie Prinze Jr. Is Just as Sweet & Sassy As You’d Imagine
It’s hard to believe, because it literally feels like we just watched them in their first film together, but Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. celebrate their 21st wedding anniversary today. The couple, who met on the set of 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, don’t often publicly disclose certain details of their life together. But that didn’t stop SMG from taking to Instagram to share the sweetest (and sassiest) anniversary tribute.
The post, which you can check out below, features a touching throwback photo from SMG and Prinze Jr.’s wedding. The black and white image shows the couple slow dancing, with Prinze Jr. seemingly leaning in to give his wife a kiss on her forehead. As romantic as the photo is, SMG matches that energy perfectly with a pretty quippy caption.

“[Freddie Prinze Jr.] what’s customary for 21 years? I believe it’s [Celine] or is it [Loewe] ?!?” SMG’s caption reads, referencing the two fashion companies. We really appreciate where the Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum was going with this caption. No comment quite yet from Prinze Jr., but we have a feeling whatever he has lined up for their special day will be just perfect.
SMG and Prinze Jr. exchanged their vows in a stunning 2002 ceremony in Mexico. They welcomed their first child, daughter Charlotte, roughly seven years later, and in 2012 welcomed a son, Rocky James. Any time we get an update or a glimpse into the couple’s life together, we think it’s a real treat — and this adorable anniversary post just proves how enduring and special the couple’s love is.
