'Saturday Night Live' #TBT: Welcome to Kevin Hart's Bushwick
Who put gluten in your muffin?
Kevin Hart returns to Saturday Night Live this weekend to host for the third time (just two more to go before he joins the Five-Timers Club!). He’ll end SNL’s 2017 run in style, which is fitting since it has had quite a year. The long-running show has experienced reinvigorated ratings and critical acclaim — both Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin won Emmys this fall for their SNL performances.
The last time Hart graced the Studio 8H stage, he was part of a memorable digital short that was both hilarious and controversial. Hart, Kenan Thompson, and Jay Pharoah play three guys on the corner from the Bushwick ’hood.
But these guys are from the new gentrified Brooklyn. They patronize the new artisanal mayonnaise shop, go to spin class, and snack on gelatos after a long day of shopping. And Hart’s coterie of “bitches”? Oh, just the pack he sees as a dog-walker. He even knitted them matching sweaters.
Then again, as the end of the short shows, maybe the Brooklyn ’hood hasn’t changed that much.
Tune into SNL with host Kevin Hart and musical guest Foo Fighters this Saturday at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
