'Scandal' co-stars Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn reunite on DNC stage to support Harris

"Olitz" fans were ecstatic to see Kerry Washington and her "Scandal" co-star Tony Goldwyn join forces on stage at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Thursday night.

Washington, known for her role as crisis manager Olivia Pope in the hit political drama created by Shonda Rhimes, took the podium to encourage people to vote and express her support for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

"As I stand here, I know that there are folks on social media already saying 'Go back to your TV show. Shut up and act.' But I am not here tonight as an actor. I am here as a mother, as a daughter, as a proud union member," Washington stated as the crowd erupted in applause.

She continued, "I am here as the granddaughter of immigrants, as a Black woman descended from enslaved people. I am here tonight because I am an American and because I am a voter and because we, the people are stronger when all our voices are heard."

Washington and Goldwyn take video on stage

Following her speech, Goldwyn, who played President Fitzgerald Grant III on the show, walked on stage to take a selfie video with Washington and the arena crowd.

"Are you ready for Kamala Harris to win?" Washington asked.

"Yes," the crowd roared.

"Good, because when Kamala wins, America wins," she said. "We did it, Joe."

Social media reacts to 'Scandal' reunion

Washington and Goldwyn's reunion at the DMC gave "Scandal" fans all the feels.

"Let me go re-watch Scandal cause it's giving NOSTALGIA," one fan wrote.

Another user added, "Olitz on #TGIT? The country needs it! I would be even more grateful if the rest of the gladiators made an appearance...and papa pope."

The two stars, whose on-screen storyline revolved around an intense and turbulent relationship, have taken friendly digs at one another on social media and in interviews since the show ended.

Just recently, in June, Washington participated in the viral #BlackWifeEffect challenge and joked that she played a role in her co-star's glow-up. She also used the opportunity to raise awareness about voter registration.

"Tony! I've upgraded your life in so many ways #BlackWifeEffect, and today I'm adding one more," Washington wrote in the caption of the Instagram post which included photos of Goldwyn before "Scandal." "Go upgrade your voter registration status to REGISTERED ??. Love you!!!!!!"

"I’d be lost without you kw…?? Registering NOW!????," Goldwyn commented.
