'Scarface' Star ángel Salazar Dead at 68

ángel Salazar, the Cuban actor and comedian best known for playing Al Pacino's sidekick in Scarface, has died at the age of 68.

Salazar's representative and longtime friend Ann Wingsong confirmed the news of his passing in a statement to TMZ. He died in his sleep over the weekend and was found dead in bed at a friend's home in Brooklyn on Aug. 11. His cause of death was not revealed, but Wingsong noted that Salazar dealt with heart issues.

Salazar was beloved for his role as Chi-Chi in Scarface, where he appeared alongside Pacino during some of the movie's most iconic scenes. He would reunite with Pacino a decade later in the 1993 drama Carlito's Way, where he also shared the screen with Sean Penn. He also worked with stars like Tom Hanks in 1988's Punchline and notched other notable credits like Hot to Trot, Boulevard Nights, Walk Proud, and Maniac Cop 2. He even appeared in a Big Pun music video for "I'm Not a Player."

He was also an accomplished comedian in the industry with appearances in HBO comedy specials like Last Comic Standing. He continued to perform until his final days, as his last shows were held Aug. 1 through 4 in Las Vegas.
