'Scorpion' sneak peek: The geniuses find themselves in a Broadway-style musical
Elyes Gabel is a man of many talents. You already know him for his acting, but after the Season 4 premiere of Scorpion, you’ll also know about his — and the entire cast’s — singing chops. For fans who wondered where the show could go since they’ve already been to space, the answer appears to be: into a musical.
The episode, set the morning after Walter and Paige, ahem, get together, is such a big moment that Paige (Katharine McPhee) sings about it. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen either of them sing; in fact, it’s not even the first time we’ve seen them as a duet. Back in Season 2, they did a killer karaoke rendition of Elton John’s “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.”
This time, though, Walter enters into a musical fantasy that rivals any hypoxia-induced hallucination he’s had to date. If you can’t wait another moment to see Sylvester, Toby, and Cabe in mariachi outfits, you’re welcome; if the very idea of that fills you with terror, then … sorry?
Of course, McPhee’s singing voice is well-known from her stellar run on American Idol, coming in second to Taylor Hicks in Season 5. Gabel is less well-known for his musical stylings, but he’s got more than a dozen songs online, and they’re well worth a listen. As for Robert Patrick, Ol’ Blue Eyes Cabe himself? Well, although he’s the sibling of Filter frontman Richard Patrick, it seems his brother may have gotten all the singing genes.
Season 4 of Scorpion premieres Monday, Sept. 25, at 10 p.m. on CBS.
