Season 28 Premiere of ‘The Simpsons’: Mr. Burns’s Follies Bring Us Jollies
The Simpsons premiered its 28th season on Sunday with a story that centered on Mr. Burns. The self-centered bazillionaire put on a variety show to help rejuvenate Springfield after a giant donut sculpture destroyed the town. And he hoped to make up for a terrible stage performance he put on a child.
Meanwhile, Homer was left in charge of the nuclear power plant, which of course was a terrible idea. When he realizes he’s in charge of everyone’s safety, he tells Marge, “Put everything in the car and get out of town. I’ll find you, if there are still roads!”

Back at the variety show, Mr. Burns tried to redeem himself by performing the song “Golden Slippers,” but ended up just setting his pants on fire. This caused the audience to laugh at Mr. Burns again, which was apparently cathartic because he felt better.
The Simpsons airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. on Fox. Watch clips and full episodes of The Simpsons for free on Yahoo View.
