See the Descendants fight danger in first Descendants 3 teaser
More villainy is afoot…
On Friday evening, the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Descendants 3 dropped on the Disney Channel. The 30-second clip, which can be viewed above, shows the descendants, also know as VKs or villain kids, facing off against new dangers on the Isle of the Lost.
Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson), Carlos (Cameron Boyce) and Jay (Booboo Stewart) can all be spotted in the teaser, sporting their new flashy gear, which EW debuted in a first look image last June.
“Descendants 3 will be the biggest in scope of all the previous movies,” director Kenny Ortega teases exclusively to EW. “Everything has been scaled to deliver an epic story. The characters, the sets, the costumes, the dance numbers are all bigger, better and the baddest!”
Disney describes the plot of the third film in the franchise as follows: “Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep. When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the Isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that nemeses Uma (China Anne McClain) and Hades (Cheyenne Jackson) will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite her decision, an unfathomable dark force threatens the people of Auradon, and it’s up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet.”
The third film will welcome some new faces as well. Last May, Disney announced Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog and his daughter Celia will be joining the franchise in its third outing. Newcomer Jadah Marie will play Celia, while Jamal Sims joins the cast as Facilier.
“Returning to the world of Descendants for a third time was like a homecoming,” explains Ortega, who is also an executive producer and choreographed the movie with Sims. “After having gone on this journey twice with so many of the same cast and crew, we became family, partners, able to read each other’s minds. I believe the solidity of this partnership has enabled us to make Descendants 3 our best movie yet.
