See which topless celebrity photo was our most popular this year
While 2019 was unpredictable in many ways, one in which it wasn’t was that Yahoo readers continued to love looking at photos of celebrities in their swimsuits.
Bikini photos shared by Elizabeth Hurley and Salma Hayek drew a lot of eyeballs on Yahoo this year. However, another popular post — featuring a man in a swimsuit — was one of Yahoo Entertainment’s most popular topless photos this year. That fella was none other than Tim McGraw.
The country singer, 52, was excited to report back in May that he had speared his first yellow grouper during a pole fishing expedition near the 20-acre island — L’?le d’Anges — that he and his wife, fellow singer Faith Hill, own in the Bahamas. He shared a photo of his prized catch over Memorial Day weekend, but most of the comments were all about his abs, as he posed in his orange trunks with a leafy pattern, and not the gigantic fish.
As we noted at the time, a typical comment on his social media photo was, “Nice..... and the fish is pretty impressive too” with a series of flame emojis. Also, “That’s a damn impressive specimen. Nice fish too.” There were quite a few along the lines of, “I’m sure no one even notices the fish.”
Yahoo commenters had some fun with the topic. One person wrote, “I too always have a six-pack when I fish,” and we assume they meant the alcoholic variety. Another wrote, “Yeah, happens to me all the time. My eyes are up here ladies.” And another was, “52 and rocking a 6-pack, nicely done.”
McGraw, who has been married to Hill since 1996, opened up about his fitness — and that bod — this year in his book called Grit & Grace: Train the Mind, Train the Body, Own Your Life, which came out in November. He said that a decade ago, he found himself struggling with his health as his career skyrocketed and he was on the road a lot. At Hill’s urging, he decided to prioritize his health — and he shared his transformation story in the book along with practical advice for readers to become healthy, strong and fit in mind and body.
He recently shared on social media that he is now “in the best shape of my life.”
“Life served me a good lesson in humility, and that led me to starting over from close to scratch,” he wrote in the book. “I leapt out of a slump at age 40, hit full stride at 45, and now at 52 it’s coming together quite nicely.”
He added that “focusing on my physical health hasn’t just made my body healthier, it’s made me healthier at every level. Moving daily and exercising regularly,” even if it’s just a walk, “was a pebble that set off a ripple effect, improving the way I eat, sleep, relate to others, and show up both personally and professionally. It made me a better person to be around.”
And his workouts have improved his bonds with Hill and their three daughters — Gracie, 22, Maggie, 21, and Audrey, 18.
“When you’re a partner and a parent, if you don’t leave intensity at the door when you come home, it starts to strain the bonds,” he wrote. “You don’t even realize you’re using worldly stresses and pressures as a way to check out of something harder to navigate — like intimacy and being there emotionally for the people who love you most.”
