Well, fans had mixed reactions to Gomez's good deed—with some criticizing the amount of money she gave to the man on the street.
In the comments of TMZ's post on X, people wrote, "So many money and only 20$," "That's like a penny split into 100 parts for her," and "That's all????"
"The girl is loaded and that's all she can spare? Damn," said another.
But her fans weren't having it, rushing to defend Gomez as one wrote, "For those who didn’t read, she asked her bodyguard for $20. She didn’t have cash on her or she probably would’ve given more."
"Selena is the best humain [sic] being and you can’t tell otherwise ??," said another.
"She's a real angel ?? And those who criticize her for the small amount she has given him should know that at least Selena has stopped to give him something and has not passed him by like other celebrities do," read a different comment, translated from Spanish.
The encounter happened after Gomez visited the restaurant Nobu Fifty Seven in NYC. Earlier in the day, she reportedly promoted her new film, Emilia Pérez, with her co-star, Zoe Salda?a.
