Selena Gomez says her 'heart stopped' the first time she met Jennifer Aniston — in a bathroom
Sure, Selena Gomez is one of the most followed people on Instagram and the vocal celeb behind the new No. 1 album Rare. But her own fame hasn’t stopped her from fan-girling over others in her industry — especially Jennifer Aniston.
Aniston served as guest host on The Ellen Degeneres Show Thursday — when, lucky for Gomez, she made an appearance to chat about her latest album. But the 27-year-old couldn’t help but gush over Aniston while expressing her love for Friends, recalling the first time that she’d been in the same bathroom as the actress, who played Rachel Green on what Gomez called the “iconic” show.
“Well, nobody knew who I was. And you were in the bathroom, wearing a black dress,” Gomez recalled from an event years prior. “I was there with my mom, and I walked into the bathroom and I saw you. And you were just like so nice, you just like walked out of the bathroom and you were going back. And my heart stopped. And I freaked out and I ran to my mom. I was like, ‘Oh my god I just saw Jennifer Aniston.’”
Aniston immediately asked if any pleasantries were exchanged, to which Gomez replied, “No. But you were busy!” She then assured her, “You were fine. You were everything that I wanted.”
The Lose You to Love Me singer shared with the audience that she used to watch Friends every Thursday night with her mom while growing up, and even cried when the series ended.
“Rachel was my life!” she said.
By now, the two actresses are real-life friends.
“We’ve known each other for years, you’ve been to my house, we’ve had pizza,” Aniston said. “Girl after my own heart.”
