Former Sexiest Man Alive John Legend jokes that he's relieved to hand the title off to Michael B. Jordan
John Legend is one of the many congratulating Michael B. Jordan on landing the title of People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
Legend, the 2019 winner of the honor, was happy to hand it off. In fact, he jokingly thanked his successor: “I can now keep gaining this quarantine weight in peace without the pressure of a title to maintain.”

Jordan was thrilled to step into the role, which he accepted on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday as part of a surprise reveal. He wore a yellow hazmat suit, while Kimmel’s audience members guessed his identity. But even he said the “expectation now is a little unreasonable.”
Still, the Just Mercy star said it’s “a cool title to have” and one that he wasn’t expecting... for some reason.
“They told me the news and it was a moment like, ‘S***, really? Me?’” said Jordan, who’s scheduled to appear in the 2021 sequel Creed III.
After Legend was unveiled as the Sexiest Man Alive, his wife Chrissy Teigen quickly teased him by tweeting about him doing mundane things around the house. She even changed her Twitter bio to say that she was “currently sleeping with People’s Sexiest Man Alive.”

Jordan, fortunately for him, will not be trolled in a similar way, since he’s single. But he’ll still hear about it from the women in his family, who are “definitely proud of this one,” he said.
