Shadow Force Trailer: Kerry Washington & Omar Sy Star in Lionsgate Action Movie

Lionsgate has released the official Shadow Force trailer for its newest action thriller about a former special forces couple who becomes the next target of a large bounty. The movie will arrive in theaters on May 2, 2025, pitting it directly against Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*. It will also debut in the same month as other high-profile movies like Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Lilo & Stitch, and Karate Kid: Legends.

Who is in the Shadow Force trailer?

The video provides the audience with a first look at the main cast led by Emmy winner Kerry Washington as Kyrah and Golden Globe nominee Omar Sy as Isaac. They are joined by Mark Strong (Shazam!), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers), Cliff “Method Man” Smith (Power Book II: Ghost), Yoson An (Mulan), Natalia Reyes (Terminator: Dark Fate), Sala Baker (The Killer), and more.

“In the film, Kyrah and Isaac were once the leaders of a multinational special forces group called Shadow Force,” reads the official synopsis. “They broke the rules by falling in love, and in order to protect their son, they go underground. With a large bounty on their heads, and the vengeful Shadow Force hot on their trail, one family’s fight becomes all-out war.”

Shadow Force is directed by Joe Carnahan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Leon Chills. When the project was first announced, it was likened to the box office hit Mr. & Mrs. Smith, described as a fresh take on the 2005 action-comedy. In addition to leading the cast, Washington is also producing alongside Stephen “Dr.” Love and Sterling K. Brown. The latter was originally cast for the lead role but later decided to stay on as a producer.
