Simon Cowell gives his second Golden Buzzer to drone artists Sky Elements on ‘AGT’ [WATCH]
On June 4, “America’s Got Talent” season 19 continued with the second installment of audition episodes. In this initial stage of the competition, each judge is given two “golden buzzer” decisions to make where they can send an act straight through to the live shows. During “Auditions 2,” it was revealed that the decision to give each judge two hits of the buzzer came when Simon Cowell just couldn’t help breaking the rules by hitting it a second time in one episode for the drone artist group Sky Elements. Watch the full performance in the video above.
In order to display the artistry of Sky Elements, production was moved outside the theater during the night as the group prepared 1,000 drones to light up the sky with their storytelling. The members of the group began their career by setting up intricate Christmas light displays at home and then advanced with their love of coding and programming to put on larger displays in the sky. Their audition showed the lift off of a space shuttle as it moved through clouds, advanced into a space of twinkling stars and then revealed an astronaut waving a flag with the face of Simon.

Following the show, the audience watching outside joined the judges in sheer wonder. Howie Mandel called it “epic,” Heidi Klum appreciated their programming skills and said it felt like an “alien invasion,” and Sofia Vergara referred to it as “breathtaking.” Simon knew that it was a show that would appeal to people of any age and with the audience cheering for the “Golden Buzzer,” Simon addressed the rule book by saying that there is none so he could hit the button again. A producer came to Simon to tell him that there is in fact rules and that if he gets to have two golden buzzers then so does Heidi, Sofia and Howie.
As the fourth golden buzzer act of the season, Sky Elements will skip the next cut and advance straight to the live shows. They join singer Liv Warfield who received the Golden Buzzer from Simon earlier in the night and comedian Learnmore Jonasi and singer Richard Goodall who were chosen for the honor by Terry and Heidi, respectively, during “Auditions 1.”
