The Sky Is the Limit for Mark Wahlberg’s Unhinged Hitman in ‘Flight Risk’ Trailer
In the first trailer for Mel Gibson’s Flight Risk, Mark Wahlberg plays a hitman who will go to any length to secure his kill — the sky is, quite literally, the limit.
In the clip, Wahlberg’s character is piloting a small plane with two other passengers, FBI agent Madolyn Harris (Michelle Dockery) next to him and an informant named Winston (Topher Grace) behind him. The pilot-slash-hitman is calm, cool, and collected even while being questioned about mysterious marks of blood on his neck and shirt. He writes it off as an “occupational hazard,” but the passenger seated behind him begins to feel uneasy when he realizes that the man piloting the plane looks nothing like the image on the pilot’s license he discovers on the floor belonging to a man named Daryl Booth.

But the hitman doesn’t make his move fast enough. Madolyn swiftly whips out her gun and apprehends him after taking a taser to his neck. With Daryl handcuffed and detained, the two unbound passengers realize that they’re 10,000 feet in the air without anyone to pilot the aircraft. “Don’t shoot him, we need him,” Winston pleads with Madelyn, who sends in an urgent call: “Mayday, mayday. We’ve been compromised. The pilot is a hitman.”
Flight Risk opens in theaters on Oct. 18. The Lionsgate film was directed by Gibson with a screenplay from Jared Rosenberg.
The film marks Wahlberg’s third of the year. He starred in the adventure film Arthur the King, released in March, and will star alongside Halle Berry in Netflix’s spy action comedy-thriller film The Union, streaming Aug. 16.
