'Skyfall' Already Seeing Huge Success

While "Skyfall" isn't coming to theaters in the U.S. until November 9, the film has already opened internationally and has done exceedingly well.
This weekend alone, the 23rd movie in the James Bond series made $156 million, bringing the total in the ten days since it premiered to $287 million. "Skyfall" had the biggest opening in Germany, where the film made $23.9 million, making it the biggest opening of 2012. It also made $7.9 million in Italy, $6.7 million in Spain, and $5.3 million in Switzerland. Comparatively, it is opening over 70% bigger than "Quantum of Solace" and 80% bigger than "Casino Royale."
As of today, Sony Pictures Releasing International has made $2.16 billion this year. This makes it the most successful year the company has seen, trumping the previous record of $2.14 billion in 2009.
