Will Smith to perform new music live

(WJW) – Big Willie Style is back!

Will Smith, 55, will perform a new single at this year’s BET Awards, according to a press release.

While details of the song have been kept quiet, Rolling Stone reports it’ll be some of the first new music the 4-time GRAMMY-winner has released in about 20 years.

Will Smith, now an Academy Award-winning actor and producer, got his start as a rapper. Some of his biggest hits included “Big Willie Style,” “Men In Black,” and “Gettin’ Jiggy wit It.”

According to PEOPLE, the last time Smith performed live was in April of this year at Coachella 2024. He performed the hit single Men in Black from the 1997 movie soundtrack.

“From his start as a rapper to The Fresh Prince to being a box office king as one of the Bad Boys, Will Smith is truly a global icon, and we are honored to welcome him back to grace the BET Awards stage,” said Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET in the release. “We look forward to Will adding to yet another defining night for the culture that is not to be missed.”

The BET Awards air live on Sunday, June 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
