Spanish Soccer Division La Liga 123 To Air Globally Via YouTube With English Commentary
Spanish soccer is continuing its global march with games from its second tier set to be broadcast on YouTube.
La Liga has announced that games from La Liga 123, otherwise known as the Segunda División and featuring teams including Deportivo La Coruna and Malaga, will air on the video-sharing site with English commentary.
The broadcasts will begin with Cadiz’s game against Granada on Friday and will be available in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. They will not be available in Spain.
This comes after La Liga struck a deal with Facebook to air games from its top division in India for free.
“These broadcasts will lead to an increase in the coverage of Spanish football around the world and allow thousands of supporters of Spanish football the opportunity to be able to follow their favourite teams,” said La Liga. “At La Liga we are committed to using these channels to broaden the appeal of our competitions. The move to show La Liga 123 on Youtube will strengthen the competition, bringing it close to a new audience and in a format which we believe will be very attractive for spectators.”
