Squid Game gets third and final season — here's when it will finally return for season 2
The wait is almost over for the Emmy-winning series.
Almost three years after it debuted, more Squid Game is finally on the way.
Netflix announced Wednesday that the record-breaking show, which features indebted citizens literally competing for their lives in a string of children's games, will return for its second season on Dec. 26.
In addition, the streamer said a third and final season will debut in 2025.

New episodes of the thriller — often as terrifying as a horror movie — will again focus on Lee Jung-jae's character, Seong Gi-hun, who narrowly avoided death on his way to victory the last time around.
Three years after his win, Gi-hun "remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport," according to the official description. But, of course, it's not that simple, and "to end the game, he needs to re-enter it."
A teaser released in February showed him answering a phone, as the caller tells him, "You're going to regret the choice you made."
The hero answers, "I will find you. No matter what it takes."
Hwang Dong-hyuk, the South Korean show's director, writer, and executive producer, wrote about the upcoming episodes in a letter accompanying the news.

"I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit the end of this story," he wrote. "We'll do our best to make sure we bring you yet another thrill ride."
Besides Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun (Front Man), Wi Ha-jun (Hwang Jun-ho), and Gong Yoo (The Salesman) will also be back.
