St. Mary's Springs Academy presents 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' spring musical starting April 19

FOND DU LAC — St. Mary's Springs Academy has been preparing a classic gothic tale for Fond du Lac.

The school will present the musical "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" at 7 p.m. April 19 and 20 and 1 p.m. April 21 in the Horace Mann Performing Arts Center, 325 McKinley St. in North Fond du Lac.

Directed by Christa Lewis, the show follows Quasimodo as he makes friends with the bells and gargoyles in his bell tower sanctuary while his brother, Claude Frollo, makes sure he will never be seen by anyone roaming the streets. That is, until Esmerelda saves him from loneliness and despair.

'Remember when ...': Remember when Madame Kuony taught culinary arts out of her mansion? Here’s the story of the Postilion.

The story takes place in 15th century Paris and was originally written as a novel by Victor Hugo in 1831. It has since been most popularly adapted into first a 1996 Disney animated movie, then a stage musical by Alan Menken, Steven Schwartz and James Lapine, which premiered in 1999 in Berlin as "Der Gl?ckner von Notre Dame."

Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students and seniors, available at hometowntickets.com.
