Stagecoach 2025 to feature High Desert native, ‘American Idol’ star Chayce Beckham
High Desert native and “American Idol” Chayce Beckham will join the headliner trio of Zach Bryan, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs when the Stagecoach music festival rolls into the Low Desert next year.
On Thursday, organizers announced music headliners and other performers for the return of country music’s biggest festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio from April 25 to 27, 2025.
Combs will headline on Sunday, April 27, with Beckham, Midland, Sammy Hagar, Goo Goo Dolls, and over a dozen other artists also performing.
'American Idol' star Chayce Beckham's rise to fame
In 2021, voters nationwide pushed the then 24-year-old, raspy-voiced Beckham across the “American Idol” finish line with a first-place win during the three-hour Season 19 grand finale on ABC.
Since then, Beckham has toured the country, and recently celebrated his first No. 1 hit, “23,” which he performed on the “American Idol” stage.
The hit song comes from the Beckham’s debut record, "Bad for Me." It earned him his first nomination at the CMT Awards for Breakthrough Male Video of the Year, according to performing rights organization BMI.
In honor of Beckham’s first No. 1 as a BMI songwriter, BMI Assistant Vice President Leslie Roberts presented Beckham with a custom Taylor 210e DLX guitar.
“Chayce has become the only artist to ever win [American Idol] by using his own songs," Roberts said. "Fast forward to 2024, and ’23’ has amassed over 391 million streams and counting. This song has had an incredible life and it’s still going.”
“I can’t thank you guys enough. This changed my life. I am trying really hard to say this without breaking down into tears, but when I moved to town I had nothing but a contract and a little money that I had already spent,” Beckham said. “I was just a blue collar worker from a blue collar family." All of you guys in this room, because of all that you have done, have changed my life. Thank you so much."
Beckham’s High Desert roots
Born at Victor Valley Global Medical Center, Beckham told the Daily Press that he spent most of his childhood in Victorville, as well as neighboring Hesperia and Apple Valley.
He attended Carmel Elementary School in Hesperia, also Vanguard Preparatory School and Sitting Bull Academy, both located in Apple Valley.
At age 12, Beckham moved down the hill, where he moved around the Inland Empire and Los Angeles County.
‘American Idol’ Abi Carter
Indio native and "American Idol" winner Abi Carter will also play at the Stagecoach country music festival on Friday, April 25, organizers said.
It will be the latest moment in the national and local spotlight for the 22-year-old Carter, who won the American Idol crown in May.
Since then, Carter has been recording and releasing music, and also played her first full concert in July at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, the Desert Sun reported.
